The natural pool (piscine naturelle) at Oro Bay is a shallow, rock-protected basin of glassy water on the northeast coast of the Isle of Pines. Tropical fish shelter here and the current is gentle, so it's a dreamy spot for floating with a mask.
How to get there
The classic route combines a morning pirogue sail across Upi Bay with a walk of about 45 minutes through the forest. You can also drive to the Oro area and walk in. A small access fee is usually charged by the landowners.
Tip: go in the morning, wear reef shoes and bring your own snorkel gear. Never stand on coral.
